On January 13, 2015 US Senators Jerry Moran (R-KS) and David Perdue (R-GA) introduced the FairTax bill to the Senate. Known as Senate Bill 155, the FairTax bill would replace the current burdensome, complicated, and costly tax system with a flat national consumption tax.

The FairTax is the most popular tax reform measure in the country. But, it was unable to gain any traction in the Senate while Harry Reid was in charge. Now, we have an actual bill entered in the Senate, to go along with HR 25, the FairTax bill already in the House of Representatives.

Now the FairTax can be reviewed and debated by our legislators. This is a major step forward for the FairTax. There is still a long way to go. We still have to convince our legislators to back the bill. But getting the bill into the Senate is a good start!
