The
Future of the FairTax: It can be done! Help is possible!
Help is possible.
It may sound odd, but only a couple of years ago, people laughed
when you suggested replacing income and payroll taxes with a national
retail sales tax, or, if you will, the FairTax.
Similar
people, in early times, were certain that grassroots movements could
not:
• Boot King George III from this continent.
• End slavery as an essential part of our economy.
• Give women the right to vote.
• Ensure the right to buy an alcoholic drink, should you choose
to.
• Get unions the right to collective bargaining.
• End communist dominance of Eastern Europe.
• Throw Syria out of Lebanon.
• Return the Ukrainian election to the legitimate winner.
Well, do we have news for these doubters!
Opponents of the FairTax fall into two categories:
(1) Those who don’t understand the FairTax, and haven’t
tried to, because they think the income tax cannot be changed, and
(2) Those who understand the FairTax all too well, and simply don’t
want to give up the power they wield over people, using an out-of-control,
special-interest-driven internal revenue code.
And both have seen the public attitude slowly change from “Are
you crazy?” to “Can we really do that?” to “We
can really do this!” – especially with the runaway popularity
of talk-show host Neal Boortz’s and Congressman John Linder’s
The FairTax Book.
Yes we can. We are no longer an English colony. Women vote. You
can buy a drink, should you choose to. Slavery is long dead and
equality grows. Unions have done a good job of ensuring workplace
safety. A true, free-market dominates Eastern Europe. The Lebanese
are taking control of their country back. And a freely and legally
elected president serves the Ukranian electorate. Of course we can
really pass the FairTax.
We went for 137 years without an income tax. Then, we unfortunately
created the income tax by passing an amendment and then passing
a law, back in 1913. Now we’re terminating the income tax
in exactly the same way, by passing a law and passing a (repealing)
amendment.
That law is before Congress now. The FairTax (H 25/S 25). And if
enough people put enough pressure on the Congress and the administration,
the FairTax becomes a law, and there is no more income tax. No more
IRS. No more Social Security tax.
When that happens, we reclaim control over our earnings, and enter
a new era of growth and prosperity, comparable to what we experienced
after World War II.
It can be done. Help is possible.
