6th
& 11th District
Kennesaw, GA, May 20, 2006
Hello again fellow Fairtaxers! Once again I was excited about the
number of people who showed up this month for our gathering! Although
we were without our esteemed leader, Boyd Parks, Mike Lowry was
good enough to step in and keep our district informed and inspired
to continue our fight. The goal we set in May is to add a Call for
Action whenever discussing or educating people about the Fairtax;
not only have them sign the petition, but also have them send letters
to their Representatives and the Administration in Washington. As
a Fairtax supporter, we can make up a general letter and have people
sign that when they sign the Petition and we can make sure it gets
sent to the right office. With the success of Boortz’s Fairtax
Rally, word is spreading about the Fairtax and the population is
starting to get serious about getting our new tax system into place;
we need to take advantage of the current interest in the Fairtax
and turn that into support for it.
As I am sure everyone in the 6th District knows, Tom Price is our
Fairtax supporting U.S. House Representative; he has shown his support
of our cause publicly AND will be attending our next District meeting
on June 17th. Currently Representative Price is putting together
a “Tax in Advance and Advisory Panel,” to study the
Fairtax and prepare information to give to the Congressional Budget
Office; they can evaluate the Fairtax and confirm that it is a Revenue
Neutral change, which will help us gather more support for sure!
We are pleased and honored that Tom Price is willing to give up
sleeping in on a Saturday morning to join our group to listen and
share ideas to get HR 25 passed. PLEASE arrive early on June 17th,
around 8:00am or 8:15am, Mr. Price will be able to join us until
9:00am and we want him to know just how strong the support for the
Fairtax is becoming!
Last but never least, we have many events coming up, and we need
some volunteers! The next event is Juneteenth, which celebrates
the end of Slavery, and will be held in Marietta; if you would like
more information about this event, you can Google it, and if you
have some time to spare, please e-mail Bob Jones @ bob6657j@bellsouth.net.
We were able to get 170 Petitions signed at the last event, A Taste
of Acworth, and we want to surpass that amount this time around.
THIS JUST IN: we have reserved a booth along the main street in
Historic Norcross during their July 3rd Fireworks Extravaganza;
this is a great opportunity for our organization, as they expect
10 to 12 thousand people to attend the Fireworks event! Houston
will be supporting this booth and we are currently in need of Volunteers
and ideas; due to increased littering in the last few years, we
are not allowed to pass out Literature. We CAN pass out pens, Chap
Stick, sell Books, T-shirts, and we will have two DVD players to
show the new DVD and a CD player so we can play the Banks &
Shane Fairtax Song. Please bring any other ideas for this event
with you on June 17th or e-mail me at melissaearnest@hotmail.com.
The Fairtax Wave is on the move, and I am proud to be a part of
a District that has helped build the wave! Until we meet again on
June 17th at the Golden Corral off Barrett Parkway (at 8:00 am this
month), keep fighting the Good Fight and inspire others to do so
as well.

The Fairtax ’06- IT MUST HAPPEN
The FairTax ‘06
Kennesaw, GA, April 15th, 2006
Hello again fellow FairTaxers! I was excited to see so many new
faces at our last meeting; and how wonderful to be able to get together
and plan the biggest change to our tax system since the beginning
of withholding, on the most dreaded day of the year for most people—APRIL
15th Tax Day. Plan is what we did; not only did we have positive
discussions and hear of great ideas and progress, but we also prepared
for the FairTax educational event at the Crown Road Post Office
on April 17th. A Big Thanks goes out to James Kleitz for organizing
this event; we were well prepared and well manned and informed at
least 1,000 people coming to the Post Office on Monday night.
Thank you to everyone who stayed after the meeting on Saturday to
help fill envelopes to hand out on Monday. When I arrived at 6:30pm,
there were almost no envelopes left and most people had gone to
handing out FairTax Fact Cards. This event was very successful.
We definitely educated a great number of people on the FairTax.
Educational, because whenever you get a group of people together
to talk about an changing the tax system, you inevitably learn something
new, and a lot of fun because of all the FairTax supporters who
came down to Hapeville!
Of course, we did not spend the whole meeting preparing for the
Post Office Adventure; we were lucky enough to have Gene Key, Georgia’s
State Director attending and he had many exciting updates. We learned
of a new FairTax Video that will be very helpful in getting more
Speakers trained and it can also help those who are holding weekly
or monthly meetings; you can start the meeting with the Video so
visitors can learn about the FairTax plan, and then you can spend
the rest of the time answering questions.
We
also discussed the new FairTax radio ads that are playing on WSB;
many people had already heard them and were very encouraged to really
get involved in making the FairTax our new tax system. There was
also mention of a recent addition to the Presidential Race in ’08,
Mr. Mike Gravel, who is a Democrat and has publicly come out in
support of the FairTax. There was a brief mention of an Agricultural
Event in October in Moultrie, GA; we will pass on more information
once we receive it. Last, but definitely not least, we have an event
coming up in May that sounds very promising; “A Taste of Acworth,”
is a local event scheduled for Saturday, May 20th that can bring
between 5,000 and 10,000 roaming, tax-paying, individuals. Bob Jones,
who is the man in charge of this wonderful opportunity, has reserved
a table for us to inform and educate those in Acworth who do not
know about the Fairtax and encourage and offer ideas to get the
existing Fairtax supporters more involved in their District. We
will need FairTax supporters manning the booth from 10-4; if you
would like to get involved, please e-mail Bob Jones at bob6657j@bellsouth.net.
If you would like a FairTax shirt to wear, and I know you do, they
will be only $20 at the Taste of Acworth, down from its usual $25.
This event is held on Main Street at Cowan Road (at the old Day’s
Chevrolet) and I hope to see you all there. Our next District meeting
will be Saturday, May 20th at the Golden Corral on Barrett Pkwy
in Kennesaw; 8:30am-eating and 9:15am-meeting, and after the meeting
you can head over to Acworth. Until next time, don’t lose
hope; working together….. WE CAN MAKE THE FAIRTAX HAPPEN!

February 18, 2006- Kennesaw, GA
Hello again fellow Fairtaxers; it is that time of that month for
us to come together and share our experiences, our progress, and
our ideas. Congressional District Six has once again stepped up
to the plate and hit a Home Run. Our 2nd official meeting not only
brought supporters within the District, but also those from Norcross,
Jonesboro, Tyrone, and even Calhoun; we were grateful and excited
about their presence. As far as our experiences and progress in
the last month, we have had many successes; our State leader, Gene
Key, joined us on Saturday to share the results of meeting with
the Farm Bureau, and the outlook is good. Although the Farm Bureau’s
endorsement does not mention the Fairtax by name or HR25 in particular,
the description of the tax reform plan they support is the same
as the Fairtax; Gene also mentioned a plan to provide friendly reminders
to District Farm Bureau leaders about the Fairtax name, with the
hope that next January their legislation will have the F- word in
it. The Farm Bureau is a strong and experienced organization, and
we Fairtaxers appreciate any support they are willing to lend.
We also received a positive update on Duane’s Library Project;
we are expecting approval from the Cobb County Library system to
hold monthly meetings any day now. After hearing about Duane’s
success, many others, including myself and my mentor, Diane Earnest,
have decided to apply for approval in the Fulton and Gwinnett County
Library systems. Our goal is to have approval and our first meeting
scheduled by our next District meeting date. We can’t forget
to thank Dr. Karen Walby, the Fairtax’s Chief Economist, who
is working hard to translate the Scientific studies to a shorter
and easier to read summary; she has translated three already and
they are or will be available on the Fairtax website. Along the
same lines, Gene informed us that a CD presentation about the Fairtax
is in the final stages and we will hopefully be receiving them in
the near future. Last, but certainly not least, we got an update
from Mike Lowry, who has had some speaking engagements with seniors,
and reports that many seniors are very enthusiastic about the Fairtax
and would like to know more; he will continue to educate anyone
who will listen in the future.
On a personal note, we would like to recognize our distinguished
District leader, Boyd Parks, whose rebuttal to an article opposing
the Fairtax was published recently in the Marietta Daily Journal;
his philosophy inspired me and I hope it will inspire you; he believes
that even if you think there is no way you’ll be published-
write it anyway. And that is one of my Call-to-Actions this month,
write your local paper or Newsletter about your desire to pass HR25
and why; it does not need to be an editorial piece to make our point,
in fact, a letter to the Editor can spark more opportunities to
spread the Fairtax word. Also, go to some of your local shops and
ask if they will allow you to put a Fairtax window cling-on (available
from the National and State websites) on the front of their store;
you will be pleasantly surprised by how many people will say “Yes.”
Make sure you get your hands on the New Petition, which allows for
more people to sign on one sheet, and fill it up; as you have people
sign your petition, hand them a copy and challenge them to fill
theirs. Our most important new focus needs to be on the US House
Ways and Means Committee; there has been a comment made that if
we can get the bill onto the floor, it will pass. There is a list
of members of this committee and their thoughts about the Fairtax
available on the Georgia Fairtax website under scorecards; find
out who has not confirmed their support and change their minds.
Every Fairtax supporter can make a difference; remember our slogan
this year, “IT MUST HAPPEN!”
To end our update I would like to remind everyone that Congressional
District 6 meets every 3rd Saturday of the month at the Golden Corral
on Barrett Parkway; breakfast starts at 8:30am and the meeting begins
at 9:15am. March’s meeting will be on March 18, 2006; we welcome
all supporters to this meeting and hope to outgrow our meeting room.
Although, we are not sure when yet, US Representative Tom Price
has already agreed to join us at one of our meetings; we will let
you know the details when Boyd gets the logistics worked out. Mike
Lowry will be hosting a meeting at the Huntcliff Summit Independent
Living Center on March 23rd and it is open to the public. As we
begin to branch out and host local meetings in our areas, we will
try to make sure they are advertised sufficiently not only for those
who want to know more about the Fairtax, but also for those who
can contribute with knowledge they already have. Until next time,
stay strong, and remember that we are working to change a nation,
which takes heart, dedication, and time; however, the Fairtax Must
and Will Happen!
January
14, 2006, Kennesaw, Georgia
“It Must Happen” was the theme of Congressional District
Six’s first monthly meeting. Although primarily an organizational
meeting, we came up with many good ideas and plans for building
support. Plus our most important goal for the year: combating the
resistance to the FairTax in the form of, “It will never happen,”
our battle cry is “It Must Happen.”
Georgia is the most active state in support of the FairTax, thanks
to the voices of John Linder, Neal Boortz, and Herman Cain, and
we are constantly growing with numbers in the tens of thousands,
but we can’t stop here. We need to double the membership in
Georgia, and believe me, with this group, it can be done!
CD Six’s first meeting was a vibrant atmosphere and ideas
poured out of its members as easily as the coffee we enjoyed. Ideas
like having a FairTax section in town parades and booths at various
festivals throughout the year. We also discussed the importance
of having informational meetings in each part of the District.
We were very excited to hear that the Fayette Daily News has taken
an interest in our cause and is doing a three- or four-part series
on the FairTax. It is even considering a weekly column for updates.
This, of course, led to many volunteers to consider asking their
local papers for space for the FairTax.
Another brilliant idea was to have FairTaxers at Tom Price’s
Town Hall Meetings to bring up the subject and spread the word.
Tom Price is very much in favor of the FairTax, but does not talk
about it enough. We would like to change that.
One of the most exciting ideas, in my opinion, is to take on the
college campuses. We will contact various clubs at Georgia colleges
to convince them to let us speak at their meetings. We believe that
this initiative could be a huge success and push us closer to passing
H.R. 25. The outlook for this year is bright; we are only one month
into the year and already supporters are lining up to take action.
Most importantly, we have to change people’s attitude towards
the possibility of a National Retail Sales Tax, and make sure that
everyone knows that, “It Must Happen!”
Congressional District Six will be holding another breakfast meeting
at 8:30 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2006, at the Golden Corral
on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw. Even if you do not live in the Sixth,
please join us. We are all in this together. Our goal is to outgrow
the room we are currently in at the restaurant in six months or
less! Come and help us make this happen!
