FairTax Volunteers at Jan. 25 Meeting. From Left: Bryon
Daily, Carolyn Fessenden, Chris Jordan, Terry Byrne and
Brian Martin.
|
We had a very special
guest at this meeting. Angela Bean! It was great! Our
attendance was however one of the smallest we've had.
Date: 1-25-06
Meeting Start time; 7:25pm
Attendance:
Angela Bean
Bryon Daily
Carolyn Fessenden
Chris Jordan
Brian Martin
Those not in attendance........................ WE MISSED YOU!
Hope to see you at next meeting because We would like to to stat
appointing
people to different positions and forming our orginizational chart.
Angela shared with us a FairTax series that is running in the Fayette
Daily News. The
article was submitted and ran as 3 different stories. I have in
my possession
article 2 of 3. The other two parts are with two of the other team
members. ( I
know Carolyn has one of them, she may have them both).
The suggestion was that we all go to our local papers and submit
parts of the
article for printing. Bryon Daily and I (Brian Martin) discussed
the two papers
in our area; "The Crossroads" and The Common Ground"
We will work together on
that and see how we can get it printed.
The story Angela Bean submitted
is on the front page with a headline "The FairTax" Over
5000 Fayette Countians have signed on to support movement."
Great Job Angela!
Angela shared with us that the National Group is going to release
a new study
that covers 9 different Categories of how the FairTax will affect
those areas,
(the list of categories were not available). This study should clear
up or
answer some of the questions that have been floating around among
FairTax
supporters and those who are still undecided. It should be out around
Feb
28th.
It was pointed out that there has been (already) millions of dollars
spent on
research and studies in order to make sure the FairTax is going
to be the best
way to solve our Tax issues. With that knowledge, we should be confident
that
the work we are putting into it and the time we spend supporting
it, is well
worth the effort. We can be confident that it will work!
Along the same lines, The FairTax Book has a revision copy (paperback)
being released and should be out around May. It too will address
some questions that came up in several meetings. Look for your copy!
Terry Bryne is a Super star! He is the cousin of Gerald Ford. The
Gerald
Ford!. He also has some very High Powered friends in very High Powered
places..
He shared with us an exercise that he did concerning the money he
spent and the
money he would have saved had the FairTax been in place. He is going
to email
the instructions on how to do this exercise so we all can do it.
It was very
eye opening. It will make you love HR 25 even more. It is gives
you a visual.
Chris Jordan was asking what is the best way to get an audience
with his big
bosses at his company. (He works for a very large company)
Terry Bryne suggested that we contact big companies like Chris's
(small ones
too if they have a news letter) and make the request to submit an
article in
their company news letter covering the FairTax. Great Idea Terry!
We need to
assign someone as The Company News Letter Director.
Bryon Daily also suggest and E-mail News letter! another Great way
to keep
information flowing. Perhaps we can start one for CD-04. We wil
discuss.
Also, we discussed the Meeting Brandon was suppose to have attended
on the
24th. UPDATE: Brandon Emailed and said the meeting went well We
will request
meeting notes from him. (Brandon, if you would be so kind) :-)
Angela informed us that on Sandysprings Radio at www.radiosandysprings.com.
Phil Hinson the Fair Tax Georgia Director has a radio program on
that covers
the FairTax (HR 25) at 4:00pm every Sunday PLEASE TUNE IN!
Angela had a drawing for a T-shirt she acquired and Chris Jordan
won it.!
CONGRATULATIONS CHIRS!!!!!!!!!! I think we can buy these T-shirts
- the link is on the home page of our website: www.patrioticdesigns.net
We took a photo and hugged and left.
The meeting ended at 8:45pm
We decided to change the day of the meetings from Wednesdays to

some those who go to Wednesday night Bible study can make the meeting.

Date: Jan. 11, 2006
Meeting started at 7:08

In Attendance:
Terry Byrne
David Hanson
Lisa Carr
Dawn Gilmore
Bryon Daily
Earl Williams
Chris Jordan
Carolyn Fessenden
Jim Olson
Brian Martin
(Rich Jakielski, Brandon Sedgwick and Catherine Davis were all busy
with other
important appointments)
We did not read the minutes from last meeting...(however were are
very informal
and really did not plan on reading those minutes) If someone would
care to do
so next meeting, just say the word.
We opened up by going around the room introducing everyone and allowing
each person (As David Hanson suggested) tell why they are involved.
By the time we completed, with the conversations we had from each
persons introduction, we had complete the meeting... And had one
main theme... "Build the group". The introductions started
with Terry Bryne...
Terry is interested in debating tuff crowds and would like to have
a face to
face conversation with CD 04 Congresswoman. He sees the Fair Tax
as a chance to
help Corporate America. He would like to be one of the speakers.
He thinks it
is important to Get a big base of supporters (we all agreed)
David Hanson also would like the opportunity to speak face to face
with some
tuff opponents of the FairTax. He thinks education is a key factor
to helping
people change their mind.
Lisa Carr also believes it is important to sway the congressmen
/women in the
districts. She shared her communications with CD 4's office, informing
us that
they are not really against it. They are just not sure at the time.
CD 4
Congresswoman is reading the book now.
Dawn Gilmore shared that at her office someone had discussed the
Fair Tax and
her office was very receptive. She was also excited about educating
people
about the positive affect HR 25 would have on their lives.
Earl Williams shared a story that involved his kids College Fund...
After
coming to the understanding what changes took place after President
Reagan left
office... (Tax wise) He realized what a negative affect it had on
the College
plans for his kids. As a result he started to make a few changes
in political
views.. Among which the Fair Tax has played a big role in his life
because he
sees the real value and how it will personally affect his and his
children’s
life.
Chris Jordan "with much passion" shared how he wants to
talk to everyone he
knows about the Fairtax because he knows what a difference it will
make in his
and their life.
Carolyn Fessenden shared her encounter with the Fair Tax book and
how it opened
her eyes and she could not believe how much since it made. She was
(according
to Chris) a little angry when she found out about some of the things
the book
revealed…. Ever since then, she has been a strong supporter
of HR25. She was
also very passionate about getting the word out. She always has
great ideas
about how to network with the people...
Bryon Daily shared he had a degree in Economics and HR 25 makes
plenty of
since. He has strong feelings that education and focusing on the
people by
educating them with simple facts will help encourage them into understanding.
He also explained we need to be careful how we present the information
to
people. We don't want to bog them down with to much information
(especially if
we are not clear on all of the answers) He wants to make sure that
we are
giving accurate and helpful information that will win their trust...(Great
words Bryon).
Jim Olson very clearly agrees that education is going to be the
key to getting
committed supporters.
Brian Martin (that's me) discussed the importance of being able
to love them
into understanding. Not being standoff-ish. Building strong relationship
is
going to be key to building strong group and committed members...
The groups main goal is to build a large support group and add numbers
to the
our meetings.
The topic of Pre-FairTax Payroll and Post Fair Tax Payroll came
up again today.
We discussed how companies will decide to handle payroll tax after
the fact.
Dawn and Lisa was rather convincing in the fact that Pay checks
should not
change a great deal... they might in fact go up in some cases...(depending
on
the employer) I printed off the Neal Bortz information again and
handed out to
the group to study…in their spare time.
Carolyn brought up an idea of Web Casting a few of our meetings
or net meeting.
Allowing our group to grow with out having to increase our room
size..(Great
Idea)
We are all going to bring someone to the next meeting in order to
double the
group!
One other goal is to still identify groups we can talk to but really
concentrate on one on one contacts.
Brandon, Lisa Carr will be the one to visit with you on your meeting
that is
scheduled on the 24th of Jan...... Please get with her and confirm
the date and
the time.... (Brian (I) will be busy with work on that day......)Meeting
ended around 8:35pm
Next meeting is January 25th at 7:00pm same location

(Brandon Sedgwick was on a plane returning to Atlanta)
Jim Olson introduced a promotion for April 15th.
MAKE APRIL 15TH MORE FUN THAN ANY OTHER DAY!
Standard TV fare in Atlanta on filing deadline day is the cars pulling
up to the Buckhead post office to drop off their 1040s at the last
minute.
Let's get a listing of ALL of the post offices that are open until
midnight for this purpose, and then let's blanket them with FairTax
info AND get some camera time for the cause. Besides literature,
ideas included Miss Liberty and Patriot Costumes, and more interestingly,
TEABAGS with FairTax info on the tags.
We need viral marketing like teabags evoking the Boston Tea party!
We discussed the Paycheck issue regarding Pre-Fair Tax Gross vs.
Post Fair Tax Gross. (Will it equal the Pre-fair Tax Net? Carolyn
and I went to the web and printed some information from the Neal
Boortz web Page. Carolyn read the information to the group. We discussed
setting up a meeting with a group of Company Owners to talk about
how they would do their payroll different with the Fair Tax in place.
(Pay Scales etc...)
We decided to all carry around a small note pad in order to log
names, numbers and email of people we strike up conversations with.
This will help us start to build a data base.
We also discussed the District -04 Redistricting that is going to
take place.. All of the parties at the meeting will change to District
-06 except for Brian Martin .......that's me :-)
We all had a great time; we laughed and bonded very well. What FUN!
We set up a second meeting with the rule that we all have to bring
one new person to the table...
