Georgia's 2006 Congressional Candidates

Below is information about the candidates running for Congress in the upcoming elections. We have noted the candidates who are incumbents and their stance on the FairTax.

Also noted are the races that we need to focus on to get the FairTax supporter elected.

We are using the newly redrawn 2006 Congressional District numbers.

*DENOTES INCUMBENT

District 1:
Jack Kingston (R)* - (Campaign Site) FAIRTAX SUPPORTER/CO-SPONSOR OF HR 25
Jim Nelson (D) - Methodist Minister, Army Veteran & Democratic Activist

District 2:
Sanford Bishop (D)* - (Campaign Site) WILL NOT COMMIT
We need to strengthen our presence in this district. Mr. Bishop is a possible vote for the FairTax, but he needs more constituent pressure and this is an area of the state where we have not built a profile yet.
Brad Hughes (R) - (Campaign Site) FAIRTAX SUPPORTER

District 3:
Lynn Westmoreland (R)* - (Campaign Site) FAIRTAX SUPPORTER/CO-SPONSOR OF HR 25
Patrick Pillion (D) - Businessman UNKNOWN

District 4:

Hank Johnson (D) - DeKalb County Commissioner & Attorney UNKNOWN
Catherine Davis (R) - Business Woman FAIRTAX SUPPORTER
A district with a large number of people who voted for McKinney will require a lot of work from FairTax volunteers to elect a pro-FairTax candidate.

District 5:
John Lewis (D)* - (Campaign Site) AGAINST

District 6:
Tom Price (R)* - (Campaign Site) FAIRTAX SUPPORTER/CO-SPONSOR OF HR
Steve Sinton (D) - Radio Station DJ/Talk Show Host UNKNOWN

District 10:
Charlie Norwood (R)* - (Campaign Site)

District 12:
John Barrow (D)* - (Campaign Site)
STRONGLY AGAINST
Max Burns (R) - Ex-Congressman, Ex-Screven County Commissioner
FAIRTAX SUPPORTER
A very important race. This will be a rematch between Max Burns (STRONG FairTax supporter) and John Barrow (DOES NOT support the FairTax).

District 13:
David Scott (D)* - (Campaign Site)
WILL NOT COMMIT
Donzella James (D) - Ex-State Sen. & '02 Candidate
UNKNOWN
Deborah Travis Honeycutt (R) - Physician, Health Clinic Medical Director
FAIRTAX SUPPORTER
With the newly redrawn 13th district, David Scott is having to introduce himself to a whole new group of voters on the west side. He has billboards all over west Cobb now. Much of Douglas county will also be in his district. It is the opinion of some that any Republican candidate will have a hard time winning in this district.
