The Athens Area FairTax Club conducted its organizational meeting on Saturday, May 31, 2014. An enthusiastic group of twenty-four attendees viewed The FairTax: It’s Time video and then participated in a lively discussion about the details of the FairTax. One goal of the meeting was to give all in attendance a good basic understanding of the FairTax. Greg Bleakley (fairtaxgreg@gmail.com), organizer of the meeting, did an excellent job of moderating the discussion and answering questions.

The Athens Club has already made the decision to have a FairTax booth at the Athens AthFest Festival on June 20-22, and they are soliciting volunteers to man the booth.

It is the goal of Georgians for Fair Taxation to have between 20 and 30 FairTax Clubs actively operating in the population centers of Georgia by this fall. The Athens Club is the 3rd such Club to be organized since March. John Greaves (fairtaxjohn@gmail.com) is the project coordinator for creating these clubs. Get a few folks together in your community and contact John for the next step.
