Parade
day had the crew arriving at 7:00 AM to put the finishing touches
on the float and to start working the crowds with our petitions.
Over 1,000 pieces of candy, Mardi Gras beads, and other such
handouts were tossed to the crowds all with FairTax.org info
attached to them.
Over 4,000 pieces of materials (brochures, pocket cards, Georgia
Web Site info, etc) were also given to the crowds. We only had
5 FairTax volunteers available on parade day to help work the
crowds to get petitions signed, but in the two hours time that
they had they collected almost 600 petition names!
The float advertised the fact that all needed to show their
support by
|
going to the online petition at
FairTax.org. We found LOTS of supporters in the crowd but
they didn't know they needed to take that next step to let
their legislators know they expected their support as well.
We encouraged all to contact their friends and family to make
sure they have signed the petition online.
Thanks very much
to our parade volunteers who gave up their 4th of July holiday
to help us promote the FairTax: Angela Bean, Vick Vickery,
Rod and Dawn Burnette, Vicki, Dick and Rick Wanzer, Susan
and Kevin Barker, Arnie Geiger, Ernie Jackson, Kim Kilgallen,
Charles and Joy White and Steve McGovern. |
