A
Spectacular FairTax
Independance Day in Georgia!
| Buckhead
Parade |

WOW we
had 150 + turn out for the Dunwoody Fair Tax Parade and the
response was AWESOME. Only wish we had about 5 times the amount
of literature to hand out !!!
All of our marchers wore fair tax shirts, hats, carried the
signs, and handed out literature and gum (for the kids ) Our
group started off with a large American flag, followed by the
fair tax banner, then 150 marchers and ended with a decorated
car.
The parade had 130 different groups represented and we were
the LARGEST and (so we were told) the loudest. ( We chanted”
What do we want? FAIR TAX When do we want it? NOW” and
boy were we loud) Many of the spectators cheered with us, clapped
and eagerly reached for the literature handouts !! |

It was a great day
for Fair Tax in PTC. We were very well-received. Before and
after the parade while driving the cart from one side of town
to the other, I received many "thumbs up" and positive
comments. I noticed that a number of young people seem to be
aware of the effort.
Bob Owen drove the cart and all other volunteers walked the
entire time. We were about 1/4 into the parade when we gave
out of the 1000 cards, and could have easily depleted 3 more
boxes. Who knew?
The volunteers were all enthusiatic and interacted well with
the crowd, inviting visits to the web for more info and to join
the effort. |

Fabulous 4th! |
 |
 |
The
Fair Tax booth at the “Fabulous 4th” held at the
Georgia Int’l. Horse Park in Conyers was a success as
we gained nearly 200 Fair Tax supporters, and done entirely
on the new tri-fold card. This was our first run using the tear-away
cards and the first time we got a chance to show off our new
Fair Tax banner.
We still are learning the best way to work with the cards, but
thanks to our great volunteers we believe we finally worked
out the best strategy to encourage people to sign up on the
spot.
Our thanks go out to Ann Genovese, Paula Cole, Lisa Chambers,
Garth and Joan Smith, Doyle Music & family, Herb Whitson,
and Carl Victor’s family (who by the way pulled double-duty
by marching in the Dunwoody Parade that morning!). We think
the logo is beginning to get recognition as you can see from
the photos: Even Uncle Sam took notice!

The
parade was more than we could have hoped for - the crowd support
was unbelievable!
In addition to the volunteers walking in the parade, there were
miles of cheering FairTax spectators along the parade route! |

We collected
650 information cards in Augusta and 175 at Patriots Park. Of
the cards we collected in Augusta, 139 indicated that they would
like to attend a rally, speak to groups, write letters, or contribute
financially. Of those 139, 104 were from GA and 35 were from
SC.
I would like to extend a special thanks for all of the local
volunteers from GA and SC that participated in both of these
events. I hope I don't leave out anyone's name. If I do, please
forgive me. Everyone worked too hard to not be recognized.
Participants for both events were:
Justin Pittman, Beverly Ford, Ron Newberry, Winifred Newberry,
Mark Thrasher, Anthony Fulmer, Pat Vanhooser, Chuck Tatum, Ed
Leibfarth, Ronnie Mullis, Gordon Hardy, Jerry Rodgers, Lisa
Lindsey, Tina Lee, Craig Lynch, Jerry West, Janet West, Jim
Bible III, Bill Quattlebaum, Troy Green, Pandora Angelisanti,
Conrad Hutto, and Lloyd Newsome! |

Over
all it was a good day! Rick Kemis,(my wife) and another volunteer
helped me to set up shop around 10:30 and we had six enthusiastic
volunteers giving out info cards and answering questions throughout
the day. The weather cooperated , it wasn't TOO hot and there
was good breeze all day. We recruited several new volunteers
to help us spread the word in the Columbus area.

Cobb Co. GOP BBQ
|
We had
a fantastic afternoon of educating the 500 attendees of this
barbecue about the FairTax. Several local state polititians
were in attendance as well as campaign staff for several of
the presidential candidates. I made the rounds and advised
ALL the staff members of the various campaigns that aren't
currently supporting the FairTax that they needed to help
us get their candidate supporting the FairTax. These staff
members are generally young college age supporters and they
seemed to understand very well how the current system is going
to affect their lives in a negative way. One young man starting
college at UGA in the Fall volunteered to help us develop
a FairTax campaign through the College Republican group on
campus when he gets there. We signed up over 40 new volunteers
amoung the very supportive group of attendees.
Many thanks
to Jane Trammell, Devra Trotter, Jim Duffie and Cheryl Lenney
for helping with this event.
