Post Office Rally - Augusta, GA
April 15, 2008
140 New Supporters Signed!!!

Included in the group shot of FairTax volunteers are Lee Benedict, candidate for the GA House in District 118 and John Stone, running for the US House from GA's 12th District. Photo by Jessica Morris, Paul Broun's Press Secretary.

The rally was a big success!

Many thanks to all of our volunteers. They really turned this event into a huge success for us here in the CSRA.

I would like to thank Biran Puetz for organizing the North Augusta Rally and then coming over to Augusta to help out for the rest of the evening. Jim Bible and Pat VanHooser both worked in N. Augusta and Augusta too.

Brian Puetz and Ron Newberry did not make it into our photo.

Now to the details...We set up our booths around 2 pm. The North Augusta Post Office closed at 5:30, and those volunteers came on over to Augusta until we closed down there around 10pm. We collected around 140 new cards and some much need cash donations to help us put on future events.

But, more importantly, was the media coverage we received. We were interviewed by all three local affiliates of the major networks, ABC, NBC, & CBS. We were shown on news spots at 5pm, 6pm, & 11pm. We were on the news broadcasts on radio station WGAC as well as receiving numerous plugs from Austin Rhodes on his afternoon talk radio show. And when I got up and drove to work this morning, they were running the news spot on WGAC again. I was listening to Austin's show this afternoon and a couple of people called in to say they saw our FairTax booth and were wondering how we did. So the FairTax is in the minds of Augusta today!

Aside from the 140 new supporters, we probably got the most media coverage we have ever had for one of our rallies.

Best regards,

Lloyd Newsome
Community Coordinator
